His artistic development was shaped by mentors such as Barbu Bocu, Aurel Terec, and Mihai Barbu, as well as international masters like Aristide Maillol, Antoine Bourdelle, Ivan Meštrović, Corneliu Medrea, and Virgil Fulicea. Guleș is extremely versatile in his use of materials: he works with wood, stone, clay, and bronze, mastering everything from traditional bronze casting techniques to monumental stone sculptures. His portfolio includes both small-scale pieces – often inspired by childhood memories – and large public monuments.

His sculptures have been exhibited in numerous national and international venues: in Arad, Cluj, and Bucharest, as well as in Hungary, France, Italy, Poland, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom. His artistic activity has been recognized with several awards, including the prestigious “Golden Chisel” (Dalta de Aur) prize, which he received in 2010 at the International Sculpture Camp in Balatonfüred, Hungary.

Ovidiu Guleș’s sculptures are both classical and modern – rooted in traditional techniques yet bearing a unique expressiveness in today’s artistic landscape. His art builds a bridge between past and present, between tradition and innovation, making him a significant figure in both Transylvanian and international contemporary sculpture.
